Privacy Policy

NoteQuik is a study app: you write notes, and it helps you understand, practise and review them. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the control you have. We keep it short on purpose.
Who can use NoteQuik
NoteQuik is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under the age of digital consent where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, name, and an encrypted password. Optionally your grade/year and school if you add them.
- Your content: notes, subjects, tasks, flashcards, quizzes and results, and AI tutor conversations.
- Free photo preview on the home page: if you try a photo before signing up, it is sent to our AI provider, Google (Gemini API), to read the text, and is not stored. We keep only a salted, one-way hash of your network address for a few days to limit how many previews one person can try.
- Audio and videos you import: if you record a lecture, upload audio, or paste a YouTube link, the audio (or the link) is sent to our AI provider, Google (Gemini API), to write notes from it. We do not keep your recordings; only the notes you choose to add are saved.
- Photos and PDFs you attach to notes: stored privately; only you can open them. Use them for your own study material and avoid photographing other people.
- Search data: to let the tutor find the right note, passages of your notes are converted into numbers (“embeddings”) by our AI provider and stored with your account. They are deleted with the note or the account.
- Saved on your device: so the app works offline, your notes, decks and tasks are stored on your device and removed when you sign out. Study reminders you turn on are scheduled on your device and do not leave it.
- Usage events: simple counts such as "note created" or "quiz completed", and the amount of AI used, so we can enforce plan limits and improve the app. These do not contain the text of your notes.
- Payments: if you subscribe on our website, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive your plan status, never your card number.
How we use it
- To provide the app: store and sync your content and run your study sessions.
- To power AI features: when you use the tutor, summaries, flashcards or quizzes, the relevant text (your question and the notes involved) is sent to our AI provider, Google (Gemini API), to generate the response. If you choose “Turn into notes” on a photo or PDF, that file is sent to the same provider so it can read the text. Passages of your notes are also sent to it, as described under “Search data”, to build the search index. We do not use your content to train our own models, and we use provider settings that do not use API data to train their models.
- To run and secure the service, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
We do not sell your data, and we do not show ads or use advertising trackers.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers needed to run NoteQuik: our database and hosting provider (Supabase), our AI provider (Google), and our payment processor (Stripe). They process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms. We may disclose information if required by law.
Referrals
If you join through a friend’s link, we record that connection so we can give you both the bonus. Your friend sees only how many people joined with their link, never who you are.
Sharing by link
You can share a note or flashcard deck by link. Anyone with the link can read a copy of that one item, without signing in. They cannot edit yours or see anything else in your account, and the page shows no account details. You can stop sharing at any time, and the link then stops working. Share only what you are happy for others to read, and not other people’s private information. To report a shared page, email info@notequik.com.
Your control
- Export: Settings → Your data → Export data downloads everything you created as a file.
- Delete: Settings → Delete account permanently deletes your account and all your content. Active subscriptions are cancelled. Can't sign in? See how to request deletion.
- Access or correct: you can edit your profile and content in the app, or contact us.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California), you may have additional rights such as objection or restriction of processing. Contact us and we will help.
Retention and security
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account it is removed from our systems, apart from short-lived backups. Data is encrypted in transit, and access to each user's data is restricted by database-level security rules.
Changes
If we make material changes we will update this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
